This collection of poetry deals with people in relationship to each other, to our environment, and to our own minds. It's an exploration of our interactions.

Glowing

On sleepless nights he whispers in my ear,

"Shhh. Just close your little pumpkin eyes."
And his lips find my forehead.

Pumpkins can't close their eyes.
They're carved to be permanently open,
Forever glowing with an ominous smile.

There is no comfort in his innocent sweetness as he holds me close,
Tight against his warm simplicity.

Reaching Feeling

How many people are feeling like this right now?
How many of our thoughts are connecting in the air?

Right over our heads

Popping corn, light yellow, fluffs out in slow motion.
Spotting pictures in the shapes, backs down on the grass,
You don't know that I'm looking at you,
Boring a hole above your left ear with my eyes.

Map of my Heart

Sometimes I just want to

Lay myself down,
Face up to the ceiling,
Shut my eyes,
And breathe out my life.
Just for a minute.
Nothing.

It's not consciousness I'm running from.
It's life.
